I am so tired of listening to guitar+vocals where the vocals sound like they’re being sung into a garbage can. A metal one.
I know how it is when the sound is spare– you just want to make it bigger, flesh it out, and the reverb effect is the easiest way to do that. Even my favorite guitar-singer album, Nebraska, is still way heavy on the reverb. Is it Bruce’s fault that so many singer songwriters record themselves singing in a tin canyon? Or is it just the wicked temptation of reverb?
Whatever it is, just back away slowly, that’s all I’m saying. Too much reverb is like too much perfume.
